so Jfunk's got some of my photos up on the .letterperfect. site. it's still pretty rough, he doesn't have a lot of time between work and the two bands he plays in. i've offered to assist whenever our schedules permit - this has yet to occur.

of a separate note, i completed my set from the other band i'm working with (Father Pearl) weeks ago and simply neglected to post.

i blame these guys for keeping my up all night.
it think it's all worth it even if the people at work will have to put up with the irritable, sleep-deprived bitch that i'll surely become today.

i'm lazy, i haven't worked on the pictures from the Dew Action Sports Tour in weeks. (my muse is playing a game with me, i think.) however, i have been exercising the right side of my brain a bit at work.

here are a couple of cakes i've decorated in the past couple of weeks:

they are by no means spectaular. i am admittedly much out of practice, but i'm working on it.

i'll see about getting some "regular" photos up for next time.

_branching out_

i've been thinking it's time for me to explore new avenues in my photographic exploits.

last week Sean from .letterperfect. contacted me after seeing a bit of my work, and asked if i was interested in helping him out by taking some photos for the band's press kit. i told him that i haven't taken band pics before from lack of opportunity, but i am interested for the new experience to diversify my portfolio. hopefully i'll be able to meet them and hear them play next saturday. i'm excited and nervous about this venture - i really would like this to be a first step toward larger projects.

yesterday, on a much need day off, i went downtown to check out the Dew Action Sports Tour. again, i have virually no expericence shooting any sporting events. i was quite fortunate to be able to borrow a friend's Canon EOS Digital Rebel; this was my first experience with a digital SLR, and i must say it is certainly something i can get used to easily. i initially went thinking i would be able to get some sweet shots of the skateboarders and inline skaters. as it turns out, as all those trick exhibitions were indoors, i couldn't get closer than the first row of seats on the 2nd tier and i didn't really find a spot with any angles that i liked. i opted to spend most of the day outdoors which tured out to be time well spent. let's just say i have a new infatuation for FMX (Freestyle Motocross). photos to be up by the end of the week.
